Bellagio, whose territory (and especially the fortress) was occupied by the troops involving Sforza in 1449 during the warfare of succession, seemed to be one of the particular first towns within the lake to take sides and stick to Sforza guideline. During the rule of Henry V began a lengthy battle over the succession to the bishop of Como between Milan, supporting a new bishop imposed simply by the German Emperor, and Como, which in turn had already designated as bishop Guido Grimoldi, consecrated by simply the Pope. The war lasted a decade (1117–1127), with the series of small victories and defeats about land and normal water.
